First of all, like to apologize to anybody checking this out on youtube because sadly there is not a proper video version of this episode. Still figuring out working out some kinks with the video video set up I have and just wasn't super thrilled with how the video version of this one turned out. Not toyally sure what happened, excuse me, but basically having problems with the video freezing and so normally I would like, you know, cut to a logo or do some but it just it just got really bad. So I figured I would throw out the regular video version and still give you this so that if you scw you free onning. If you do want to watch it on Youtube or have a playing on Youtube, still can whether there's not a proper video and I'll be working out the case and hope we have that ready for you guys for next week. But, as I mentioned last week, throughout the month of March, every week we're doing an episode. It's all about gratitude. Gratitude is the theme of this month here. For me I've been doing something on my personal facebook page, drive and you know, showing appreciation to people who have been a big influence in my life over the years. And I want to do the same thing for the people who support the show through anchor and Patreon. Last week we talked about Mike Wells, who supports the show through Patreon. Is a good friend of mine, great comedian, been a guest on the show couple different times, and this week I wanted to show gratitude to somebody you guys, and who most of you, unless you're this person, probably...

...don't actually know. It's a very good friend of mine from college and we're going to learn a little bit more about her in this show and our friendship and how far back it goes and why she means just the world to me. But as a reminder, when I always let you guys know if you do feel the need, the urge to the desire to support this show financially and be a part of our VIPT meame and and get awesome rewards and cool stuff like that, you can always do so by going to our Patreon, which is patreoncom Basement Lounge pod. You can also do so through the anchor APP. If you use the anchor APP, you can, you can. You don't really need to use anchor APP, but you can support us through anchor as well. So those are great way to do that. Even if you don't want to, you know, donate the dollar a month, you can always just like and subscribe and leave us a rating, your review on Apple podcast and share us on social media and to help get the word out, things like that, and we're always, always so grateful that you guys do things like that, when you guys do things like that. But yeah, so today I am showing gratitude and shouting out to a very good friend of mine, someone I've known since college, somebody who I met through one of the more unconventional ways in life. Everybody Remembers Tumbler, as Tumbler still a thing? I don't know. I abandoned ship a while ago, but Tumbler, man, that was my that was my website, a choice, that was my crack cocaine. As I you know, why? Why? I always you learning. I don't understand. I really don't like. I got a good night's sleep. I've been fine all day. Haven't yawned once since I sit in front of the microphone yawning constantly. But through Tumbler. Tumbler was how I met this person and it was through a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend or something like that, and her name is Whitney Latin. Whitney Latin. At the time her name was Whitney Up Church. She has since gotten married to a wonderful man named Devin Latin, who I love to death. I love that guy. It's Great Cook.

You made me a philly cheese steak cast role one time when I went over for dinner. Just dishes, but yeah, Whitney Latin. Whitney Latin is somebody that he met through Tumbler who, like I said, was a friend of a friend who she then wound up. We wound up going to lander university at the same time and we got to finally meet in person, and to say that we just became the inseparable best of friends is an understatement. Whitney became one of my favorite things in the world, which is she was my concert buddy. We were always going to concerts together. There was one time in college we drove out to Greenville and went and saw hailstorm play at this bar, and I mean they hailstorm was big at this point. They were huge, but they were still playing little bar shows and they played this bar show and it was it was fantastic and we got to hang out outside after the show and meet the band and it was great. As a picture I'm going to throw up here, it's a picture of of me and Whitney with Lizzie Hale from hailstorm and it's just that's so cool. was such a great night. Had so much fun that night. But yeah, Whitney became my concert buddy. We went to Carolina rebellion together in two thousand and fifteen, right before I moved saw in this moment together. We went to a bunch of shows together and Whitney just is. She's such a great, great little ball of energy, is a way I can describe it. Speaking of that hailstorm concert, here's that great so so Whitney is very much an artistic, creative person. Whitney was making like plushy dolls for the longest time and I one of the first ones she made is one she made for me and I still have it and here's a picture of it here if you're watching on the video version, if you're not about to put it on my instagram. She made me a little plushy doll of a Lizzie Hale and she even put the doll in the outfit that Lizzie was wearing that night at that concert. We went and saw them, saw them together. That's that's just one of...

...the great things about Whitney's she's so stinking creative. She's so stinking creative and so thoughtful and she's always looking for ways to just be artistic and and she's not like one of those like traditional, like art major people who, you know, walk around wearing a beret and live the starving artist lifestyle, which, if you do that, that's fine, but she's a practical person. But she's just fun and it's the way that she sees the world. The way she sees the world is unlike anybody else that I know. And you know she's a she's a young woman who's WHO's had her share of hardships and troubles in life and, like a lot of us, you know, the journey, the journey through through romance was a bumpy one. But what she met? Met this guy named Devin and a guy named Devin Devon. Devan's an interesting guy. I like them at a lot, actually, I really do. And when they finally got married, it was one of those just like well, it's about damn time already devans, a Devon's a great guy. Listen, the fact the matter is this guy let me sleep on his couch and drive all the way to Charlotte, North Carolina with his well, then girlfriend, I guess. I don't know if they were engaged by that. I don't think so. No, they I think so. But is then girlfriend to go to this like all day music festival with her and then drive back, like anybody who's that trusting and that cool with it is is a winner in my book. But Whitney, you know, she's one of the like you can't just pin down, like what's Whitney into? One of the things when he's into, Whitney's into freaking everything, okay, like she's into video games, she's into you know, Harry Potter loves cats. Always, always said, always said she was going to wind up just being a crazy cat lady. She's like, I'm never' I'm gonna be single forever. He's gonna get a lot of cats. Well, she did both. She...

...got married and she got a lot of cats. But she's yeah, she's into everything. I mean, you talk about someone who I can always rely on to share some of the best stinking memes ever on facebook, and that is Whitney. Whitney never fails to make me laugh. I even when she and I had our problems, because what friendship doesn't go through its own, its own trials. Even at times where maybe we were having a fight about something, we got over it real quick. That's the great thing about a good friend is when you can talk through the problems you're having with each other and come out of it laughing. You know, sometimes we get into a fight with our friends and then that's it's sticks. Maybe you get maybe you get through the fight, but the friendship is forever changed, you know what I mean? The friendship is forever effected. Maybe it loses some of its strength, maybe lose it loses some of its some of its funds when it's grandeur. That didn't happen with Being Whitney. Whitney and I would have a disagreement, we talk it out. There might be a day or two where we just kind of fumed and then we come back and we'd speak and we talk it out. We'd hear each other out. Usually it turned out that I was being an asshole. It happens. That's I have a black belt and being an asshole. We'd get through it and we'd be forever the better for it and we'd still, to this day, are the same weird, goofy pair of people no matter what, even after all these years, because now it's been, God, it's been seven years since since, you know, we finished college. We finished college together. That was such a great thing, as we've got to finish college together here, but to to be this long as friends and for our friendship to still be the same something about. Any time I talked to Whitney I'm transported back to those college days and it's like it's never missed a beat and I love this girl so much. She is again. She is so much fun and never fails to make me...

...laugh. It's, without fail, one of my fondest memories of hanging out with Whitney was just driving to Chili's, like who we got it? We were in college, it was a dry campus. We just drove the chilis and just went nuts on Margarita's for all freaking night and then came back to campus and we're just we were just wasted, we were just, we're gone. I wound up not going to any classes the next day. That that's for damn sure we are, and we were a weird couple of folks and it was it was interesting because, you know, I am a very weird, nerdy group of friends and it was so great to see how well Whitney really blended in with all of it and how well she really, you know, mixed in with our with our crazy group of friends, and how much fun it was. It was to have her to hang out with, because we could always count on her to just be there, you know what I mean? One of my first short films that I got to make in college she was so kind enough to be a part of and I loved having her in it because she did such a good job and it was so great having her there. That short film will never again see the light of day. It's going to stay wrapped up, but that's just fine. But getting to have Whitney as a friend for all these years and getting to see that she took it upon herself to become a supporter of the show on Patreon was was crazy to me that she would do that at it really just warmed my heart and solidified just what a good friend Whitney truly is that she was willing to make that kind of a that kind of a commitment, that kind of a gesture to show that see that she supported what I was doing. I really did love that about her, that she did that, and she somebody who I will always hold very deeply in my heart. There you know, like with a lot of friends, when you're keeping them at a long keeping them at long distance because, well, you live five states apart. You know,...

...don't always stay in contact the best. I'm guilty of that. Just this is pretty much anybody listen to the show. I will in the bed. We go a long time without really saying anything to each other because our lives are just going into different directions. But that doesn't mean that when we don't, when we do talk together, talk to each other, that we don't have a blast and I always love it when I get to talk to Whitney. I'm so glad that all those years ago I chose to follow her on Tumblr, because if I hadn't followed her on Tumblr, so many amazing memories and experience as I've had in my life never would have happened. And for that, Whitney Latin, I say thank you for being my friend and being the wonderful quirky, weird person that you've always been, because it's what we all love most about you. So thank you, Whitney, for being my friend. And that's going to do it for this week's episode of gratitude. You guys can always follow along with the show on social media at Basement Lounge pod on instagram and facebook, at tbl underscore pod on twitter, check out the website, basement lounch podcom and again, if you want to support the show, you can do so either through anchor or by going to our patreon. In the meantime, guys, I'm Mike Shay and, as always, live well, rock on, take care and bye bye.
