Hey everyone, this is Mike Shay uh one to let you know we're gonna do something a little different this week. There were so many things that Mike and I wanted to discuss regarding the Roe v Wade decision, as well as the January six hearings, as well as just kind of other stuff going on. And, uh, I've been thinking about it and I decided that, rather than try to trim the episode down or release it in one huge chunk, I'm gonna release this week's episode in two parts. Part One, what you're listening to now, is dropping on Thursday. I'll be it a little bit late, and then part two is going to drop tomorrow, Friday, July one, or in the morning, as we usually does. And just so you guys can get the full conversation, because there's so much that we talked about and it was just it was hard to decide what to eliminate in the editing process. So I figured, you know what, let's just let's release everything, but let's break it up to make it a little bit easier to digest. So, Um, yeah, our conversation and obviously in the time since we've recorded this, some information has changed, new things have developed. It's kind of the occupational hazard of doing a current events podcast. But regardless, I hope you guys Um enjoy the conversation for what it is and we will make sure make sure we get to part two out to you guys first thing Friday morning, so make sure you check that out as well. So, as always, sit back and enjoy this week's episode, part one of the basement lounge. What ones did I miss? I missed the big I had to go back and watch the whole thing with the secret service agent where he tried to grab the wheel from him and tried to choke the one dude. I missed that. I missed the CATCHUP thing. I caught the I I missed because I had to go back and watch. I came in when they were doing closing statements. Um, but man, and he was talking about pulled down the pull down the metal detectors. We don't want to I don't want to stop them from getting through because they're not here to hurt...

...me. And I was like, and they were telling him like they're talking about like wanting to hang Mike pennonce and his his attitude is basically oh well, welcome to the Basement Lounge, grab a chair, grab a drink and settle in. Let's have some fun. I know. That's why I was like that's one way. What the fuck? I woke up my kid too. I literally, Oh my God, this was and this isn't even hearsay at this point. Is it because it's under oath? Well, it's not, it's not, it's it's hard to say because I don't know what. I don't know how this qualifies. This isn't a court, this is just a in a hearing committee. It's so I don't know how how those rules work, but there's no but like there's nobody there from the other side, like asking questions. It's pretty much just this committee. Um, so I don't know. And then they were talking about how, like they've got evidence that people have been trying to intimidate the witnesses, which I think is going to come out next one, whatever the next one is. Um, holy sh it, dude. I was just like the whole hang Mike Pence thing. I was like wait, what and then like I literally went what what? Yeah, the Secret Service one was like wow, heat genuine like it's I mean there I forget who was saying, but they were like at this point like this, he's about to be guilty of a lot more. You're charged with a lot more than we thought. What came out? They almost invoked the twenty amendment. They literally thought about doing it. Yeah, they were considering because they were like he's so far gone we may don't have a choice. It's I was kind of hoping we could have a fun show because we've talked about such serious ship the last couple of weeks, but Friday alone fucked that up with v Wade Um. It's just what the fuck. I...

...don't know, Dude, I don't know. It's fucking everything's wild right now. And then Clarence Thomas talking about next we're gonna go take a look at you know, I forget the names of the cases, but the gay marriage and right to contraception, and they're not right, but availability of contraception, and that's just way. Why would you even look at them? Like, I don't even know what what would like. That's when I'm like confused on so it's like like why wouldn't it the ability for contraception? That doesn't make any sense, because it's it's a it's a Christian, it's a Christianity thing. They don't believe in birth control. They want to kids, they want to it's and I mean I just it blows my mind. Well, my my favorite part right now is sprint. Courts also ruled that you can pray and in school. Of Prayer in school, I guess. Yeah, my one of my favorite things I saw on twitter and I forget who the guy said it, but he's like if that had been a Muslim guy or a Jewish guy wanting to pull out his you know, the must thing. I want to pull out his like prayer quiet, you know, like they would there's no fucking way they would have gone along with it. I gotta pull up what I got. I gotta figure out what I saw on facebook. That was just like remember, teachers like you're allowed to pray in school, so bring out your Tarot cards, your your book of Shadows. There was one that was like it was from the Church of the SATANIST church. On twitter it was like want everybody know that we'll be holding we'll be holding prayer services that or tell your teachers that you're that the Church of Satan's gonna be holding prayer time out on the field during lunch or whatever got it so because, like that's about the only way you can make them be like funk, we fucked up. It's to be like all right, let's take all the way. Okay, yeah, fuck it, let's do it. Let's fucking do it. Um. Plus, last week they also Um, what was the other one? It was some with with the Miranda rights, where you now can't sue or or like you basically they can't go after the cops if...

...they're not read their Miranda rights. Yeah, what, that got missed amongst all the other horseship that was going on last week. So now it's not really let me pull up the actual thing, because but it's it's basically it's like cool, so now we can just fucking arrest people, like there's a reason Miranda rights word made a thing. And then, Um, yeah, last week they pull it up here because I looked it up the other day because I heard that and I wasn't sure how true that was. But the stuff with row alone, I mean that that challenges a lot of things on top of just abortion. I mean there's there's privacy rights issues that are tied up in that. Um, it's being funky. It's it's a lot Um, sorry, now you're good. The rovers I just it blows everything, just blows my mind right now. Yeah, I'm just like what the fuck? Um, I really. I literally there's just pictures on twitter people going around like we'll adopt your kid, like they have that science says we'll adopt your kid, adopt your baby, and that's why I post on Facebook, on facebook and twitter, just to Piss people off. So on June, Supreme Court of the United States voted six to three in the decision Vega Vitica Teco Tico, that may that police may not be sued for failing to administer Miranda rights. Um, and then I don't know if this is just Ohio or if this is the whole country, but like they loosened concealed Carey stuff. Um, I think it was just still high. I think it was just Ohio. Within twenty four hours of the Roe v Wade thing going down, Ohio put the heartbeat bill into power or into play. South Carolina did.

There's but a lot of states, like California's governor came out and said he's like, I'm not he's like, I'm not touching a damn thing. I know it's just don't. Don't. I just feel like if they renamed playing parenthoods elementary schools, it would be the same fucking thing and it would just leave them alone. What was it I said? I said like if on twitter. I was like if, if women find a way to incorporate guns into their abortions, maybe then they'll they'll get on board. I wrote today was no, we're not going to adopt your baby. Childcare spencers a fun get an abortion. But also, and then also last week, they they, they fucking like. What was it? The outlawed, like the jewel vapes or something like that, the east eggs, and I tweeted Um, I say I said I was. Let me find it here, because I was actually pretty fucking proud of this. This is the whole show, guys. This is the whole show. It blows my mind, like it feels like so much ships happened between that and today that it feels like it's taken forever. I can't believe it's only been three or four day. Four days. Yeah, overse things just so fucking its wild to me. I almost didn't do fireworks that night. I was so pissed and just upset and shook. I was also just feeling nervous as fun. But Um, yeah, I basically said I was like yeah, you know, like on this date, like like two dozen kids were murdered at a school. So the country, the governors, the government came together, they found together and they overturned, overturned Roe v Wade and got rid of Miranda and a weekend of Miranda rights and and got rid of jewel vapes. I think we missed the message there. Um, but Dick's sporting goods has said that they are going to provide up to four thousand dollars and travel expense reimbursement for their employees if they travel for Um, we'll call it camping. I think the current thing...

...on it's just kind of dumb. But Um, you know, they were talking about, like I said, they were talking about revisiting like the right for for the game marriage case. Um, it's just and and I saw the one that really made that really hit me, where somebody said that, Um, telling people to vote is the left version of thoughts and prayers. Yeah, I was like it's really fucking true, because I'm seeing all because I'm just as angry at Democrats as I am Republicans, because they've had plenty of time to strengthen reevie Wade codify it, but don't you have to have the votes? Could something. They could have had it. But it's been a long fucking time. Reevie Wade was fifty years old. You're telling me in fifty years, yeah, you're telling me. I'm not talking about in the last in this administration. You've had fifty years Um so, and maybe it's like one of those things that people never thought would be over. You know what I mean? I know, but I mean I never thought that. Yeah, I mean in hindsight, in retrospect. You know, guess what, they can overturn the Second Amendment. They can overturn whatever the funk they want. It's just, it's, it's it's abundantly. That's why I put the thing up. That where I was like, uh, since we're talking about going after the game marriage next, any of my if any of my lgbt q plus friends want to get married while they still can? I'm I'm I'm licensed. So I just can't. It's everything so fucking I cannot believe that. I was pissed too. Yeah, to where like as almost going to do a bit at fireworks about it? Yeah, Um, I only heard one throughout. That was only there Friday and only heard one person do one. Yeah, it was m what was her named, Mama Kate or whatever. She did one. It was funny. Um, but yeah, nobody touched it, which I think was probably for the best, probably and all things considered, because a where we live and it was it was...

...just so fresh. It was like, let's let this sit for a minute. And plus it's kind of hard to write a funny bit about that, bit about that. Not that it's impossible, but difficult to write a funny bit about that for a contest the day of. No, you gotta hit it straight on the mark. Yeah, I was very upset, very, very angry. I just the thing is, it's like why, why does it matter? Yeah, I don't like and my whole my whole argument is if you really cared about kids, there would be no kids in foster care. But yeah, and then I think I put this on twitter. I was like, these are the people that said, well, adopt your baby. Are the same people that will only adopt a puppy, not a dog gets in a pound. Yeah, it's cute. They want adopt like a like a pit bull or or a full grown MUTT, like they're looking for like the the pug puppy or the weeny puppy or something like that. Yeah, like, it's not. You're not. If you gave a ship, if you gave a ship, like you don't say that ship, but you won't donate a dollar a day to Africa. You know what I mean? Like you just don't give a fuck. My friend Lisa posted a thing on facebook where she said, you know, okay, okay, so, oh, so no more boards. Okay, so that means that like, you know, maternity leaving all that and, you know, paid parentlyn childcare, like like all that's gonna be taken care of. Right, right, because it's about the kids, right, right, no, it's not. What the fun is at this point. I'm just as far as I considered they did it as a funk you. It was a fuck you because, especially with everything going on with the January six hearings. Yeah, I feel like there's like low key stuff that's come out during, like during rovers the way that should not have come out. Like the whole game stop thing came out to where the game stop things like the mame stock trading, where it was blatantly Um Um. The whole point was they said that Um Citadel and everybody...

...else that they were not having any communication with Robin Hood at all talked about doing anything and the and then finally the report came out like literally dropped the day Row v Woide like later that night to where like overshot the entire like news network. It's actually kind of a big deal. It's basically complete a mission that like the bigger hedge funds in Robin Hood will citadel and Robin Hood were like, yeah, we did this because we knew it was gonna crash and we'RE gonna lose a ton of money and yeah, we did this. No, and then come to find out like they all, like a lot of people that testified light under oath. Oh yeah, and that that that's not even in the news. It's like it's on twitter right now, but it's literally not. You can't even see like we're sittadel like tweeted, like I put on facebook. So it was like so I was like, Oh, you call us a bunch of conspiracy theorists and then like you see in like the report where like like Oh, we're not conspiracy theories because this is actually what was been like Litt legit that he's like in the report qually through the committee like it was. So it was fucked up. Back to Rovis, just a lot of that in January six like dry this. It was weird. It was all weird timing. It's very weird timing. And but I I think, I think through some weird fun up way, they're connected because when you look at like who, like look, because you have kavanaugh and what's her name? who were appointed by trump, Cornett, Cornett, Um, I can't remember. That's ship, three names, but they put her in right before he left. Um, Amy, God, fucking Damn it anyway, Um and plus Amy County country, yea, yeah, and then Um is it? So do my horror, I can't remember. But but clear as Thomas is kind of the one that's getting getting behind a lot of this because he's the one because there's that quote that's been circulating where we talked about how like he's playing, like he's like he's playing was to make liberals lives miserable or something like that. Um, somebody says something. It's gonna be really funny when all the son his wife can own him as a...

...slave. She's fuck and I was like that is an amazing tweet, an amazing tweet, because everyone's been pointing out, like, all these laws he wants to revert. It's like, yeah, but you don't want to go you don't want to go back to the one that's about interracial marriage. There, but oh, that one you want to leave alone. Yeah, okay, okay, okay, we'll see how it's working. When suddenly his wife's behind bars. God, she's she had a big plan of that too. She did. They're finding out a lot more about what's her name? Bobert? Oh, no, I never hear. She really got some involvement in some ship. It's come out that Juliani was asking for pardon, for a pardon. I didn't hear that. I think Bob. I think Bobert did too, because a bunch of them who were and then also, what's his name? The Guy who's kind of WHO's the gates, not gates, Um, the guy who the woman who testified today was his assistant. Yeah, the assistant the former chief of staff or whatever. Yeah, I know you're talking about. Yeah, I'm blanking on his name. Suddenly pull the thing up. Yeah, but he asked for a pardon because he was encouraging a bunch of this ship that he was doing. Um, it's like we were. Originally it was just like they mentioned like the six senators or whoever, whose names did get revealed, I think by her. Yeah, her in a testimony. Yeah, Um, but then she also gave me she was like yeah, like this was going on and Rudy Giuliani was preemptively asking for a pardon and and Mark Meadows asking for a part. Like it's a lot. It's it's a lot and it's honestly, it's kind of fucking scary. Oh d that's what like. Somebody, I can't remember who, posted about it. She she was like, I know this row versus, the way things going on right now, but Um, and she was like have you guys like listen to what's happened past a couple of days with January, six testimonies? And I was like, I messs A. It's pretty fucked up. It's it's really funny, though, like it is today, what I feel like today. It was like a complete bombshell. It absolutely was. It absolutely fucking was. Um because because this person, this wasn't someone they...

...um subpoena she volunteered. Oh yeah, she volunteered. She was like, I got I got some tea to spill and and she she came out and and that's why, like we were saying earlier, I didn't. I was out running errands and ship everyone was like you messaged me, like are you watching this ship? I was like, I just got home. So that was the whole reason, because they weren't supposed to do another one until July eleven or something like that. Yeah, it wasn't coming till later, but then they were like now we're going to do a surprise and I was like, Oh, I wanna, yeah, I want to watch this, and I was like and then then Mike, like I I was feeding miles and he just like, I started feeding miles. So I turned it off for a second so I could feed him and then, like, I got back on twitter. I wasn't gonna go back on because I have always watched the first ten minutes like easy. And then like, because I followed to January six committee on twitter and then I all their retweet I mean what they posted. It's like what it was about the secret servicens, like what. I was like, Melissa, can you play like finished because, like feeding himes, I actually want to pay attention to this, like legit. You know, that's fine. She knew. I was like, I kind of waited all day to watch most of it and I was okay. So I was like, what the fuss is going on right now? And then like he wouldn't go to bed, said to go another time for like ten minutes to help him because it was his naptime, and I rocked him to sleep, but I missed the catchup thing and I was like, so I watched that. I was like what, what is all this ship going on right now? SAID ABC says they're gonna re rebroadcast the whole thing at four PM and eleven PM Today on Youtube. On Youtube, I mean it's are you damning? There's a video if you'll put your headphones on him. It's like it's like a little twenty second video. It's something. It just says the post hearing moment of awkward silence on Fox a lot. I haven't seen this. I watched that. Yeah, Oh God, okay, I haven't seen this yet, so let totally. I am here, Brett. To your point.

I just wonder for the for the country watching this in this moment. Here we go. We always point out that there's not a pushback and it would have been great to hear Jim Jordan's or some congressman say some other angle to this, but the testimony in and of itself is really, really powerful, Sarah. Indeed. Yes, I am here, Bret, to your point. I just wonder, for in this moment, how much this change is what people believed or did not believe. It's yeah, because it's the thing that the lady on ABC kept saying. It was just it's damning. It's so damning, like what she's the whole Mike pencing. I was like, yeah, somebody made the argument. is like, especially with the whole wheel, trying to steer the wheel thing away. Now he can't say, they can't say he wasn't trying to do like. They can't say he just didn't do any anything, like obviously there was intent. Oh yeah, they said that. Like what they learned today is now pushing it to where like this ship was premeditated. This wasn't just he was in support of it, or, excuse me, we're encouraged it. This was some premeditated ship that the whole like. Let them come through with the guns, like so, like, yeah, like I was like they're not here to hurt me. I think it is what she said. Um, not here to hurt me. And the whole thing with like him, I guess, like being in the dining room and throwing a fit. Um, there was one of the guys um on on ABC was talking about how, because he has been he's been reporting on this ship for like decades, and he's like I remember, you know when when when Watergate was going on and it was just, you know, you were hearing all these stories about how unhinged Nixon was getting, he was drinking all the time and Um, but this is like at this point, this is so surpassed that on this is this is just not something...

...that happens on this level. Political corruption is one thing, but this is like like this guy was a fucking lunatic. Well, then they also said, like from how I understood it, Um, this is also a kind of part I missed. Um, I got caught in the middle of it. was like, uh, he didn't want to do the apology or to tell them to leave like that day when it came out like four. But then he also changed wording of it as well and then he also thought about wanting to do pardons. He was wanting to and he was wanting to like have some language in his speech about like pardons for these people, and they had told him like no, no, don't, don't do that. Can you imagine, like, Oh my God, it's it's I don't it's I don't even know. I don't even know how to even begin just unpacking all of this. I mean it's it's so much and I can't I can't wrap my head around it. Um, okay, so they've I've been I've been refreshing the wikipedia all day, waiting with them to update about today's dating so I can actually get some so, Cassidy Hutchinson, I've been trying to get some names. Here is, uh, the woman who testified she was a top aide to former when actually, I love there was a thing that so trump sent out a typical trump tweet about this where he was like, I have no idea who she is, I never even heard of her. But in the same tweet says when she put in for like request the time off, I personally denied it. I was like so you so, you have no idea who she is, but you personally denied her. Okay, he whenever somebody doesn't agree with him, you always say, I really don't know who this person everything that's time. I don't know who they are, but I've heard they suck, but I don't know who they are. But Um, so, yeah, so she tests. She provided a large amount of documentation to the committee. Um, but then stopped, and I'm sorry, Mark Meadows had provided a large amount of documentation to the committee but then stopped...

...cooperating, sued and was held in criminal contempt of court in December of Congress. In December, due to heightened security concerns surrounding Hudginson's testimony, the committee announced this hearing only one day in advance. So that's why it was so last minute. Because, and they alluded to that at the during the closing arguments, which was like we know people have been getting, you know, attempted intimidation to not cooperate with us. We have evidence of it, and I think she said that's what they're going to address in the next meete. Didn't I didn't watch the closing statements. Yeah, that's the one thing I didn't watch because, like, once she was done like taking care of a kid, like yeah, I got you, Um. But she said that Rudy Giuliani told her on January second that trump and his allies planned to go to the Capitol on January six. When she reported this to her boss, meadows, he didn't look up from his phone and said something to the effect of things might get real, real bad. The committee also showed prior videotape testimony in which Hutchinson said that the proud boys and oath keepers were mentioned in the context of planning the January six rally, especially in Giuliani's presence. She said the White House Council, Pat Sipp alone, forgive me if I get that wrong, tried to prevent anyone from the White House from marching to the capital. untild her personally. Please make sure we don't go up to the capital cast we are going to get charged with every crime imaginable. They knew damn well what was going to happen. Absolutely Um. And then you then you find out that like Ivan, like Ivanka or his daughter was like trying to get him to like. So was jared J I think junior was too. Yeah, I think Eric was not doing I'm like he was there. I think Eric Wasn't even there. I think. I think junior was um so trying to get him to stop trying to get even in the White House when they when they were talking about like on election, because I think we talked about this like a week or two ago where they were like you lost, let it go, you need to get over this Um when the one guy said to mark meadows, he was like, I told him the only...

...words I want to hear out of your mouth going forward are peaceful transition. Yeah, do you see the Michael Flynn part? No, I missed the Michael Flynn. See if you can pull it up on twitter. It is the most wild ish like I was like, I cannot believe this is being said right now. So it's Michael Flynn. No, I missed the Michael Flynn stuff. Um, see if I can find it. Oh, repleads the fifth. Did you see that? General Flynn, do you believe in the peaceful transition of power the United States of America? And he just said fifth. Get the funk out of here. He asked him if he thought if it was morally wrong or legally wrong what the people did. He said I plead the fifth. Well, he asked him if it's if it's morally wrong. What he thought what the people did. He said, I plead the fifth. You think it's legally wrong? What you thought the people did? I plead the fifth. Um you see here. Here's the crazy part, right. They asked the question first and then they're like cold on one second and the video goes. He's like we'll get back to like his lawyer and him say something and then the video like commit. He says, okay, probably a thorny claim for a vote or something. Yeah, and then like like ninety seconds later they come back on. Okay. So I got the clip from MSNBC. It's like two minutes long. Let's see here. So General Flynn has appeared before this committee and when he appeared before our committee he took the fifth let's briefly view a clip of General Mike Flynn taking the fifth amendment. General Flynn, do you believe the violence on January six was justified? We haven't yes, one minute thirty six seconds later, all right, we're back. Person Changing. Could you repeat the question prison? Yes,...

General Flynn, do you believe the violence on January six was justified? So can I get a clarifications? Have a world question. You're asking question. I'm asking both. I said I said, do you believe the violence on January six was justified morally? Take Four. Do you believe the violence on January six was justified legally? Oh, General Flynn, do you believe in the peaceful transition of power in the United States of America? That's wow, that's fucking ridiculous us. Yeah, like that's the one question you just say yes to. I know I get to maybe I don't even get the first. I mean he doesn't want to admit anything or whatever. No, absolutely any questioning, but at the same time it's kind of like the one you should be like, oh, yeah, absolutely peaceful transition. Taking the fifth, he's just trying, he's just stopping their questioning dead because he knows if he says anything else it's just gonna it's gonna open a door. That he's that he knows he's fucked no matter what. So that's yeah, Jesus fucking Christ. And when I saw that I was just like, Um, let's see here. So Hutchinson was president trump's rally on January six. She testified that trump wanted to appear in person at the Capitol after the Ellipse speech, Secret Service Agent Robert Angle insisted it was not safe to go, and this angered trump, who grabbed the steering wheel of the Presidential Lima with one hand and London angle throw at his other hand. According to Hutchinson, who said he learned it from she learned it from Tony Ornado, than White House...

Deputy Chief of staff people brought a R fifteens according to police reports. He knew the crowd was armed but wanted security checks loosen, specifically one of the magnetometers, the metal detectors, removed. Not carrying the people had guns. Hodgson testified that she heard trump say something to the effect of I don't effing care that they have weapons, they're not here to hurt me. Meadows and Ronado were also aware of the weapons, according to Hutchinson. As the mob became more vocal calling for pence to be hanged, Hutchinson heard a conversation between meadows and simply whatever, arguing that they needed to act urgently to prevent violence. Meadows, however, remind us of alone of trump's current feelings about pence and trump's view, according to meadows, pence deserves it. He doesn't think they're doing anything wrong. Yeah, it's just like that. When I heard that, like I said, I was like what the flying fuck? Damn Uh. And how she all testified that meadows and Giuliani saw presidential partners. And that's that's the log that's the that's the important stuff. That's the bullet points of what was talked about. Um Again, if you want to watch the full hearings. Um PBS has them up on the PBS news and our website. I think ABC has them up on their there. I mean they're everywhere. But yeah, if you go to PBS, PPS news ours website, they've got everything there. It's Jesus. And the thing is, I don't know which one has me more shook, this or the Roe v Wade thing, I mean road people a thing is kind of like they both haven't shook the way things like, I cannot believe this is happening, like I always thought this would be like that. They could just be bigger, would just be there. The trump I kind of explain it to like my wife, Melissa, was talking Melissa, I was like here's the crazy thing about trump. Is like, like it doesn't surprise me that they said it, but to finally here somebody, yeah, say like, yeah, this is what, like, it's just like it's one of those things you always just kind of assumed were true, but he didn't want to be treat but you didn't want it to be right. But to hear the confirmation that, Oh,...

...no, I'm not paranoid or exaggerating, like no, this is legit, this is this is fucking Lex luthor's, you know, super villain vibes from all this. That's why I was like what, Huh?
